5 reasons for the Swiss Microsoft Azure data center

Because of these 5 reasons, successful companies rely on Swiss Microsoft Azure data centers.

Microsoft Azure combines infrastructure and security in an innovative way. You get a secure, scalable and highly flexible cloud solution. With Azure, you support your company in business challenges and form the basis of successful digitization. We would like to take a closer look at the most important features of Azure with you today.

1. Data management

An important point is the location of the data storage. Data storage in Switzerland is contractually guaranteed with Microsoft Azure. According to Primo Amrein, Cloud Lead at Microsoft Switzerland, a separate company was founded under Swiss law to operate the Swiss data centers. This means that Swiss data protection law applies to customers who obtain services from the Swiss data centers.

2. Maximum safety

Plus: With Microsoft Azure, you are always on the safe side. With compliance with the DSGVO regulations, the EU Safe Harbor programs, ISO/IEC 27018 and many more, maximum security is provided for your company. Azure was also the first US cloud provider to be certified with the ISO/IEC 27701 privacy standard.

3. Lower latency

In data communication, latency is the time it takes for a piece of information or a data packet to travel from its source to its destination. Latency is therefore one of the most important decision-making factors when choosing a suitable cloud solution. Latency in the cloud could thus also be called a new currency, because it is crucial for the success of a company that users have fast and reliable access to their cloud services, cloud apps or other cloud content at all times.

Latency in the Microsoft Azure cloud is low. While Microsoft does not officially disclose latency because latency depends on many factors in the network topology, comparative measurements have been conducted by many Microsoft partners showing improvements by a factor of five to ten compared to Amsterdam and Dublin.

4. Comprehensive services

IaaS (Infrastructure-as-a-Service) is provided and managed over the Internet as an instantly usable computing infrastructure. You can scale IaaS up or down as needed and only pay for the resources you actually use. Common enterprise use cases include test and development, website hosting, storage, backup and recovery, web apps, Big Data analytics, or high-performance computing. With the latter, it is possible to solve complex tasks involving millions of variables or calculations via access to supercomputers. You can read about all the benefits of IaaS in detail You can read about all the advantages of IaaS in detail in this article.

With PaaS (Platform-as-a-Service), you get access (via a complete development and deployment environment in the cloud) to all the resources you need to offer the most diverse solutions. From simple cloud-based apps to mature cloud-enabled enterprise applications, anything is possible. You purchase the required resources with a usage-based payment model and get access to them via a secure Internet connection. Learn more details here.

Other Azure services include Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure App Services (Windows variants), Azure Functions, SQL Data Warehouse, Azure Firewall, Log Analytics, Event Grid and Azure Database for PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB, to name a few. 5. Hybrid operation

With the approach "Step by step into the cloud with hybrid solutions" you can implement all the possibilities and advantages of a cloud environment in your company. In this way, you gain experience of your own and external processes and can consolidate trust in the cloud in the process. These two variants have proven themselves in practice. Certain structures remain local, others are already operated in the cloud. Or companies leave their critical structures in their own data center or a private cloud and flexibly outsource the non-business-critical systems in the cloud.
