Screen sharing with Microsoft Teams

Clever and fast: This is how screen transmission works with Micrososft Teams.

With the innovative all-round communication solution of Microsoft Teams, your team can share their own screen with others via mouse click and, if necessary, hand it over for control. In today's article we would like to show you how to activate and use the Teams screen transfer.

Team chat for workgroups

In the team chat, which is optimized for workgroups, you can activate a screen transfer and share your own desktop with other users. You can also transfer control of your own PC to other users without starting an active call. Separate activation of screen transfer is also possible.

Activate screen transmission

Here's what to do if you want to use Microsoft Teams to share your screen in a chat:

1) The start of the screen transfer is activated in any chat by clicking on the icon to the right of the call buttons. In the menu you can then select whether the complete screen or only an open window should be transferred. If multiple monitors are available, you can also share them separately.

2) To accept the screen transfer, all chat members in Microsoft Teams and in Windows 10 receive a notification. The screen transfer is then started with a mouse click.

3) As soon as a user accepts the screen transfer, they will see a live image in their Teams window. Now the chat itself can also be switched on as a bar with a click.

Screen sharing in a call

The whole thing also works uncomplicatedly in a call. Here, the screen transfer is started via a button in the control bar. A window selection follows, in which you can select via preview whether the entire screen or only one window is to be transferred. If several monitors are available, you can also select them separately in the call. The system sound can also be included and transmitted together with the image. It is also possible here that you transfer or take over the control for the shown computer. For this you must request the control. This works over the lower screen bar.

Of course, the whole thing works just as well in a meeting. To do this, the steps described above are followed. In addition, we have embedded a short explanatory video here. It clearly describes how you can use the screen sharing function in teams.

In our series of articles Teams Tricks and Tips, we show you how you and your team can work even more productively with the Micrososft communication solution Teams. You can also use our webinars with practical solutions for your company.
